South by Northwest

The word is out. Today, we told folks at our respective workplaces that we are moving. Friday, I accepted a photo gig north of Atlanta. Yup, back South. Family calls. I start Dec. 4.

I'll have more to say about this as time goes on, but right now, it's still sinking in. I know I will miss the Palouse and the Northwest. That's what happened with all things Southern when I drove up here more than three years ago.

Now, having tasted both ends of the country, it's hard to pick either one. The Northwest is awesome. We love it up here, so this has been a difficult decision for us.

It's just hard to convince our families to all move here. My mom thinks it's too cold, and my dad thinks there are grizzly bears roaming the streets. I tell him "Moose, Dad. No grizzlies . . . . Yes, moose are big, and they can hurt you, but usually they don't."

So we're going home. Home. That word just made my chest do something funny.

Congrats on the new gig, Nuge! Kris told me this past weekend that there was a possibility that you'll be moving to Atlanta soon. I hope to see you and Becky sometime soon, either in Huntsville or in Atlanta. I've been travelling there a little too much lately.

Congrats on the change though man. At least it won't be quite as cold. Where are you going north of Atlanta? It's a photo gig? Is it a photo-j thing or another genre? We will have to get together over work stuff sometime. Let me know if I can help somehow, you have a place you can crash in either Auburn or Montgomery.

Thinh,
I called and gave Gina, Jack, Hank and Cassie the good news. Everyone is excited. Please email Gina with details on where I can get the fried green tomato sandwiches in Auburn that you said were so good. You can also let me in on any other places I need to try.

Copy me on good places to eat in Auburn. We recently discovered that they do good noodle soup on the restuarant side of Mandarin House, and we are regulars at Lareado's(love that place). We like Warehouse Bistro when we feel foolish with our money, have yet to eat at the Yellow Hammer.
